-Expressions of Want-

Expressions Of Want

Bearing bruised birds instead of hands,

the Keepers of Notre Dame

bow melting backs to the clotted Sun

Their eyes, blistered

under her weight

She, vitalistic heretic-

wishing only to observe the earth as it has itself.

(Clash after neon clash across the plains

Our children martyred

Our histories lost to effigies-

the Sun, beating hellishly down upon those grotty things

wrings Apathy by her neck

in the cursing of our name

Today, tomorrow-

and she has no Time.)
