Extinguishment

A flickering flame is all that remains

what once shined bright, not sustained

soon to go out, the end draws near

yet you know naught, you shed no tear

Thy fire was bright, a full mind of knowledge

but listless now, no longer acknowledge

and only persist but one glowing kindle

memories departed they’ve all gone dwindle

In oblivion your brilliant light tossed

an endless abyss your torch exhaust

your brilliant psyche mindlessly smothered

by loathsome disease cure undiscovered

Dying flames tended so they tried

but soon it sputtered and tears we cried

tossed away with the other coals you stay

burnt out and languid just as grey

But as your memories flit growing dark

the flame of love reignites glowing sparks

just as dim remembrance memories nix

the heat of your love will conquer the styx
