Eye of the Beholder

Location

People tread these hallways full of misery

Overlying are displays of joy and cheer

Meanwhile each one tries to make the other blear

All akin in diverse forms of bottomry

This school is tangled into a briery

The students, teachers, all in a state of drear

Reputation of glory because they veer

A student body looming to be tawdry

If you walked alongside me, you’d concur

The image that we portray is counterfeit

I will sit back while you watch the mise en scène

Hugs and kisses, but all we have is rancor

From previous mistakes we wish to be acquit

In the denouement, all attempts are barren
