The Eye of Solstice

 Eyes reflecting winter's decree

Cold, barren and filled with icy resolve

Frigid wind blowing away desire's conception

Leaving in its wake

A chilled heart, bereft of warmth

Gray skies threatening to release its fury

Yet from the desolation springs renewal

The iris thaws, hinting at the color to come

New growth, blessed, festers

Created and carefully watched over

As the heart begins to break free

Somber beliefs no more, replaced by summer sun

Now but a pupil of burning desire

Fueled into a flames of a passion unrivaled

The cool breeze only furthering, as affection's fire spreads

Youthful nights ensuing

Promises abound, so infectious

Hues explode in the emergence of our fall

Into a whirlwind of our own making

Effervescence evolving, escalating

Swiftly maturing into realistic array

Chilled by the wind but warmed by the soul

Two I's no longer, for now it is we
