Eye of the Storm
Who would think that this could be?
My world shatters before me
Looking back I see the signs,
The things I should have known.
I see you there, now,
Dark and evil
Waiting for your chance to strike, force me to shatter.
Creeping ever so skillfully,
You’ve struck many before.
And now it’s all being ripped away,
The things I have held so dear.
My ground no longer beneath me,
I am alone in this.
The sting of the winds,
Cutting, battering,
My tears sting.
Its flooding.
Flooding,
Drowning me…
But as my muscles seize,
my will bent,
I step upon a sturdy stone.
Which holds me up above the tides,
My despair,
I catch my breath,
And I lay.
I lay upon the stone, I feel its strength.
The waters threatening to swallow us whole
But he keeps me safe.
I have laid my burdens upon you,
Yet you stand unwavering.
Thought the storm still rages,
An ever-present struggle.
My rock protects me,
Keeps me untouched.
My will stronger,
I look up at the storm and scream,
“hit me again, your best shot this time”
And he does his best to keep me level, weathering the storm
Just to keep me from jumping in again…
