In the eyes

In the eyes of the citizens

See the people they're screaming out

See this equation is hard to figure out

There are so many variables trying to be heard

Trying to calculate why they have been burned

Hurting the flesh breaking it apart

Hurting so much kinda like a broken heart

The variables never understand why they have been burned

Never understanding why their life was turned

Still hurting inside you can still see the burns

My voice has been imprisoned.

My words have been picked out.

My opinions have been forced to change.

I am chained to a silence.

The words echo but I can't hear it out, it slowly fades away so I can't have doubt.

I start to go insane because I know what I know.

The world is war, and we're all just stuck in the middle.

Say your opinions now, but be gentle.

I am misunderstood.

I'm not really heard out.

The features of my personality are starting to fade out.

I am silent now, I hear a lot.

I have opinions,but I throw it away

Knowing what I know may start another war today.

Know yourself before you know me

I am different from who you think I should be

So I'll sit back down now and be silent again

The voices are echoing the doubt must be kicking in

I am chained to a silence

Let the war begin

A voice that will forever echo

It's beautiful you see

How people put me down

But I know glories within me

Footsteps to a dream leading to a legacy

A legacy foreshadowed

Invisible steps you never thought could be

Turn into a reality for the whole world to see

Your music it can relate to me

Hurt and pain in the world but music mutes it with a melody

Voices of people who I never thought would be inspired by me

Right now it's a dream

Next it's reality

Then it's a legacy

I'll wait my turn and listen to the melody

Let the music play as the chorus begins to set me free

Someday I will be

A voice of a legacy

But for right now I'm stuck making the melody

In my eyes

String tied up
I twist and I turn
Turning so elegantly
This beautifulness in my skin that I've lived in
Tied up in a string full of old grief
Yet yearning for new beginnings
When we haven't fixed the past that is creeping upon our present; making our past, our future
Therefore leaving us with more grief like never before
you'll never see our scars
We open our eyes to a new day and new night stars
Even though we have lost some in our battle
Victory is ours
I close my eyes and say a prayer to thee
Lending my heart so another could see
Looking down and knowing that was me
Sending love to her to let her know SHE is THE DEFINITION of beauty
I slowly recognize that it was a dream
I open my eyes to see no string
I see I'm not tied up to anything
No boundaries are tied to my soul, my mind, nor my body
No stereotypes are tattooed upon me at birth
It is completely up to me who I will end up to be on this earth
Maybe I have tied myself up with that string
Never even knowing I did such a thing
I cut the string off of me
I see a new light of freedom ahead of me
No boundaries no stereotypes for me to ever see
I realized the string was me
Then it came to me
Sometimes it is you that has to set yourself free
