Eyes

“In the eyes of a mother

I see you as my daughter.

I see you as a gift sent from the heavens.

I see you as a woman who will grow to be strong and independent.”

“In the eyes of a father

I see you as my little girl.

I see you as the second woman in my life who I will love forever.

I see you as a girl who will grow to be a woman but will always be my little girl.”

“In the eyes of a sister

I see you as a leader, a protector.

I see you as someone who takes the bullets for me, so I do not become wounded.

I see you as a best friend even though sometimes you are mean.”

In my eyes, I saw myself as just a girl.

Born into this world just living through life.

Nevertheless, I am labeled with all things that give me a purpose.

I am more than just a girl.

I am a little girl.

I am a daughter.

I am a protector.

I am a leader.

I am a friend.

I am many things.

I am…me.
