Eyes
Eyes,
Windows to the soul.
If so
Then my soul is
Dark green,
Like a mysterious forest
Hiding everything,
Revealing nothing.
The longer you look the more lost you get.
This forest was made for protection.
Hiding vast secrets and keeping me safe.
But now I wonder,
Have I grown my own forest too big?
So that even I can’t find my way.
Have I been hiding so long in this forest that
Now that I might finally want to reveal something,
I can’t find my way out
Why can’t my eyes be like his?
Ever changing,
Always free.
His eyes are the only ones that can penetrate this forest.
The open fields and colors that I see when I look into those eyes
Make me want to be free.
Those enchanted eyes,
But I must not forget myself,
I am who I am,
And he is who he is.
I can’t be free.
This forest keeps me safe and unharmed.
It keeps me from harming others.
His open fields and blue skies
Just contrast too harshly with
My dark and mysterious woods.
But why?
Why do I want to go into those fields?
I know they’re filled with danger.
But a part of me wants to join him,
In that open world where he seems so happy.
Could I actually bring some light to this forest?
Could I actually join him in those wide open fields,
Where the sun shines and the grass is green
Even though I might risk hurting myself or others.
What do I do?
My heart yearns for the freedom and the happiness those eyes offer.
My mind warns me about the dangers they could hold.
Should I risk it?
And step into his world where I could potentially be happy.
Or should I stay in my woods keeping everything hidden,
But I know I’ll be safe.
Potential happiness,
Potential Sadness,
Or
Safety,
What should I choose?
