Eyes and Soul

they say our eyes are the windows to our souls,
but what causes those windows to open?
love? lust? accomplishment? sacrifice?
our eyes are always open, physically
but what about mentally?
do we actually see every detail?
every glimpse?
every sparkle?
just because our eyes are open, does not mean we actually see
we gaze, we stare
but we do not always see
does this mean our souls cannot be found?
if we do not see, if our eyes are just open, are we able to see the soul?
are we able to see our feelings?
our thoughts?
our temptation?
are our eyes actually the windows to our soul?
or is it possible that there is more to the story?
