Eyes as Green as The Sea

Eyes are the window to the soul… or so the saying goes.

I never really thought this to be true until I met the man with the sea green eyes.

Where he came from, or where he goes, no one ever knows.

His penetrating eyes soon became my demise.

As I stared into their watery depths,

I saw a story of sorrow and joy alike.

A story of heartache and secrets kept,

Of accomplishments as powerful as a lightning strike.

The longer I stared the more it began to shape in my mind, reflection.

My heart skipped a beat,

as I realized with confusion that this was not just an illusion.

I stared into those eyes pure green and found someone I did not expect to meet.

 My heart sobered,

And eyes welled up with tears.

For in those depths was a reflection not eroded.

The reflection of my life, my dreams, my fears.

In those green eyes, I beheld my own soul,

I was once a skeptic, but now am a believer

But not in the meaning always told.
