Facade

Location

Why do you treat us all the same?

Don't you see we all wear facades.

The children you yell at are the ones getting F's,

because mommy and daddy can't afford rent.

But you don't get that, do you? You just want your pay check.

Why do you treat us all the same?

I don't do test well, but I know the names.

Everyone else will get an A, based on memorization and multiple gains.

But I, I will not. Because tests continually lock me down,

they bind me to the cold hard ground,

they don't let me think,

even if I know the answer is C.

Why do you treat us all the same?

The kid in the corner cries every day,

you leave him be, not knowing what's wrong,

then ask him why his grade is so low.

Why do you think we all do poor?

You yell at us, and ignore the primary fact,

you just can't teach, like a good teacher does.

No matter how much you want to tell us,

you were on the top.

Why do you treat us all the same?

Sure, you were teacher of the year, five years ago,

but, times have changed and it's time for you to go.

You are all talk, but don't do anything.

Constantly trying to get students to show

"how you used to be."

Why do you treat us all the same?

It's a simple fact.

We all wear facades.

But you, you're mask is so damaged, we can see right through.
