Facade

Facade.
That's what they see,
But would they run if they saw the real me?

All dark and gloomy,
Depressed and sad.
Instead of bright and cheery,
Happy and glad.

It's painful to smile
When I scream inside
No where to run to,
No dark corner to hide.

I prefer to be alone
Rather than in a social crowd.
No room for error.
No room for doubt.

To be me wouldn't go unpunished
Met with shuns and stares.
To be honest I would meet the shuns and stares Like an old friend sitting across in a rickety Chair.

But it's to be forbidden.
Not to be allowed.
Not under my own roof.
Not in my own house.

Facade.
A game I must play.
To keep the peace.
Day after day.
