A face in the crowd
I am a misspelled name
A blurred edge of a picture
Used when needed, let me alone.
The unsought lost
The unnoticed extra
My world is empty
A hollow, aching cage
Pass me by with eyes not seeing
I retreat in my shell
Hide me from the world, I pray
No one knows my story
Broken pieces begging for mend
They avert their eyes
If my pain were physical
No skin left untainted
Carrying a silent burden
Bound by invisible chains
