In the face of death (you are still strong)
A little girl crowds her rooms with barbie dolls.
She brushes her hair, then changes the clothes.
Her dad yells from the other room to her,
“I’m going downstairs to papa, i’ll be back.”
She walk over near him, but instead of staying upstairs,
She follows him with curiosity.
The morning was bright and happy.
Now, it’s shady, and bumpy…
The little girl's dad collapses onto the pale carpet.
Her heart pounds, almost out of her chest she thought.
Sirens scream out in the air, leaving the little girl alone with papa.
It drives by leaving the door half closed.
Now it’s open, and so is grandma’s car door.
The smell of mint and coco fills her breath as she enters the hospital.
The waiting room is very quiet until the two nurses come in.
One takes a hard and long deep breath.
The nurse only had to say one world for the little girl to drown in a river full of her own wetness.
“Died’ repeats over and over in her head.
The little girl is now a big girl writing this poem sharing her pain.
It’s very difficult to say, but this can happen to anyone and by anyone,
This can happen to you.
Maybe even tomorrow.
Dad, before I go off into the real world,
The only thing I want from you is your happiness.
And your will to see me graduate in spirit.
I love you
