A Face, Destinct

The town, nestled in a little piece
Of nowhere
Is reduced to crickets,
And sprinklers,
By the night.

Somewhere, in
a cookies cutter house,
With a shiny car out front,
A dog barks.

At first, a small yip.
Then, a tentative bark
Then, the real thing.

The dog next door
Is up for this game.
Soon, the whole
Town is alive with
A symphony of angered and
Confused pets.
