Face to Face Breakup

I had the privilege of attending a wedding the other day

After sharing a conversation with the couple

And being told that in the midst of all of the arguments

Abuse was never an occurrence

I finally realized

That this “love”

Isn’t really love at all

And in this moment I have decided

I’m breaking up with you

Face to Face

Because

I can’t bring myself to text

Because I know

That love is supposed to be a flowing waterfall so strong and beautiful that the world can’t seem to figure out what made it

Or why it exists

Love

Is

Supposed to be A bird soaring through the sky without knowing that it’s traveled past its destination

Love

Is

Supposed to be A wildflower eager to grow and show the eternity that in those few seconds of a bloom there’s a process creating life and peace

Everything you never gave me

You tear my emotional body limb from limb

You called me no good

Worth less

Useless

Told me that the day I laid down

And never got back up was going to be the first day the world smiled

You let me know that giving up WAS an option

You made sure that I knew what “No You Can’t” means

You are no good for me

You are worthless to me

You are useless to me

Because I need REAL love

And I know that now

But this is hard for me to do

Believe me when I tell you this

The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do Deja is look in this mirror and break up with you.
