Faceless stranger

We are as silhouettes they say Trying to reach each other through shattered glass That serves as a thin line, as a reminder Of all the horrors of our past Our faces unrecognizable From the distance we must now keep Bound by ropes and wires of society When you meet me in my mind I weep Because we fell apart as one person We become strangers we become unknown The closeness we used to share was broken By the throwing of someone else's stone So now I no longer know you But the faceless stranger in my dreams Haunts me with an echo Of your voice and your tears and your seams I know that he is you my love I know that your presence is here I know you wouldn't dare let go I know because I live in fear Fear that your voice is an old refrain Fear that your face is was made in my imagination Fear that the way that you held me was a dream Fear that you are just a hallucination.
