Faces ...

Job 12:24

24 He deprives the leaders of the earth
of their understanding;
he makes them wander
in a trackless desert waste.

Faces come and faces go ... I remember you so well

Like wallpaper in a room I am so very used too

As with time it fades into the past to dwell

With the others long forgotten ... it seems cruel

In my heart are stored all I have ever met

Somewhere in my memory banks ... not even catalogued

People come and people go ... like caught in a net

To be dragged somehow into the mist of a prologue

I thought I knew you well on a regular basis

And now you are stored in a place close to nothingness

How are these things possible? ... A dessert’s few oasis

Where life springs up in hope in a world of barrenness

Once you were important and dominated my thoughts

Now just a faint memory that is disappearing quietly

Once you triggered longings ... things I rarely fought

But thanks to God the attraction was only temporary

Without His Help we would fall and fail in an instant

I don’t have the will at times to put on God’s armor

Not that I could lift it ... as I seem in a state of dormant

Most of the time as I travel backwards in the harbor
