Facing a Monster
I remember questioning everything I did as I laid there waiting.
I was waiting for a monster had gotten its grasp on me.
No longer could I anything or even muster up the strength to try and fight it.
It was plain an simple.
I was being killed.
Not the typical type of murder which society has become accustomed to,
But a different killing.
This was mental, a devouring of my mind, my soul.
This was a fight worth fighting that couldn't be won.
The monster I am facing is crafty and clever,
Attributes it got from me.
Yes I am battling myself.
The urge to become something I am not, when what I am isn't enough.
The urge to change the future that should be, when the present appears to be going no where.
This beast was my greatest enemy,
For it knew me best.
My strengths, my weaknesses, all obvious to it.
I have to become a new person to pass the test ahead of me.
Be it wise that I do not fail
