Fade to Blue

The mountains in the distance fade to blue: the further out, the more they match the skies. If they are near, how distant then are you? If they are blue, what colors are your eyes? Do you match heaven where your sisters sing the praises of our God of day and night? Or do your eyes look like an earthly thing with greens and browns to hide your stellar light? I tell you, angel-lady, I'm in love. The mountains miles away are just a reach, and when the summits feel my feet above, your seraph-smile again will steal my speech. We'll leave this world true lovers when we're through, and then my soul, like yours, will fade to blue.
