The Fading Dream

Time, ever drifting by,

In the end we all must die,

But for now living, striving,

Love never dying.

Minutes turn into hours,

Hours into days,

The days turn sour,

With nothing to say.

Days become an eternity,

Time disappearing from sight,

Always searching for the light,

Dreading the coming of the night.

For with night come dreams,

Hopes never realized,

Nothing as it seems,

No, not in dreams.

To speak of love would be folly,

It seems we met only yesterday,

And yet I’ve known you for an eternity.

Trying desperately not to stray.

For to stray from the path,

Would mean nothing can last,

I must hold fast,

To silence.

If I speak, it will all disappear,

And nothing will be left but a tear,

The dream will fade,

And reality will stay.

And reality will stay...
