Fading Scars

I've heard it all before,

every single line.

Lost in the corners of his smile,

that always made me feel so alive.

He swears this time it will be different,

but there lies a world of deceipt behind his pretty eyes.

I've gone down this road too many times,

I already know how it ends.

He gets the world and I get the pain,

kicked out to the curb, drowning in the pouring rain.

In the root of my soul I know I need to break free,

but there is no where to go,

he has clipped my wings.

Once so strong and free, beautiful and whole,

all that's left now is my broken and beaten soul.

I remember the bruises, I remember the pain.

But I refuse to let my world go up in flames.

I'm broken and weak, damaged and scarred.

But one day I will be whole again, it starts with breaking the bars.

I see everything now, in black in white.

It is going to take everything in me, but I am ready to win this fight.

A long road ahead, Im not quite sure where it ends.

But anything is better than where I have been.

I guess we all have baggage, isnt that what they say?

The pain was yesterday, and my life depends on today.

So i am breaking free, and hitting the road.

I refuse to be stuck in a world with a man so cold.

Here I am, alone and scared.

But one day I will find myself, for the future I am prepared.

Goodbye to you and your selfish little lies.

Goodbye tot the man I've learned to despise.

I can only make so many excuses for the man that I loved,

but it ends right now, I am rising above.

Cover up the bruises, and hide away the scars.

This is my life, and alone I go, headed toward the stars.
