Faerie Heart
I held his hand
reached for his heart
but an arm's reach
only reaches so far
I stood and strained
as if reaching for the stars
I reach and reach
stretching so far
I try for his heart
but he holds it so high
in shackles, in chains
he reaches for me
with one of his hands
but the other
is reaching so high
kept clenched
around the ice cold heart
I stretch
I reach
I try to keep warm
the higher I go
the colder it gets
I try and I reach
but chances are slim
chances are low
no odds in my favor
that I won't freeze my heart
in reaching for his
in reaching so far
for a forbidden fruit
for his faerie heart
