Failing Calculus

Having skipped pre-algebra in the 7th grade
I always thought that I was good at math
But my F in Calculus proved otherwise

I never could differentiate the graphs of x and y expressed by those overburdened limbs
Implicit variables silently crying out for someone to care

I never could take the sine from the angle of your eyes or lips
Obtuse neglection of situations painful in incomprehensible degrees

I never could accept that we were a pair of parallel lines
Placed side by side but destined to never cross

If only I’d taken better notes
Maybe I would have integrated the equations written on your body to find the area between those curves
Maybe we wouldn’t have ended up as two parts of a secant graph separated by unspoken asymptotes
Maybe we would’ve come together as two coinciding lines confiding in each other towards the direction of eternity
