Failure

You never thought that this would come.

Or at least,

that's what you told yourself

and everyone around you.

You were caught up in a dream,

and slowly it worked.

Spinning its cotton candy webs around you

and everyone you knew

until you were invincible.

Were.

Failure knocked her head against your door,

Against the bars blocking out the

darkness.

That's not how it works.

Failure is the way to success

She comforted.

I don't believe her. No one believes her.

But, she comes in, regardless of my fear.

I can only face the monster I have created

and the abyss that beckons from the summit I have built.
