Fairy Tale families
The fairy tale is a powerful thing. It has the power to pull you into a world that only you have the chance to partake in. However, you realize reading the story that you can see the man behind the mask. The fairy tale is only a depiction of how the author depicts the world to be like. They decide what happens in the world not you. This proposition to change the main culture of fairy tales writing is a question to ponder. Should we have fairy tales relate more to the reader, or help readers get away from their own reality.
Some of the greatest fairy tales ever given to mankind, are those that show someone standing up against those who look down upon them. The greatest fairy tale of all time should be written about a family. A family that doesn’t lose their family members. A family that has both parents, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren. A family fighting together for their future. No one must die, but each character plays their own role in a mythical world.
It should start out with two lovers who have parents from both sides most eager to have them married. A army comes to invade the lands and it pulls both families together out of necessity. Thus they get married as quickly as possible so they can enjoy one another before the army arrives at their door step. Each family has their own magical ability that runs through their blood. When different families, with different bloodlines, marry their magical abilites increase in how many they can have. If say a couple who has the ability to make it rain on command, have a child married to a family that has the power to bring to life earth. Now both families get all magical abilities from both sides. The more family members alive in a family tree, the stronger the families united magic is. They can act as one united in growing their power exponentially.
When the army comes in the families who have most alive, would be the strongest to fend off the army. A single family, through combined strength, could have the power to rust all the army’s weapons with one powerful stroke of power. Think of how great a story line this would make. You have each fairy tale diving deep into a family of how they are bonded. The more family members building each other up the longer they shall live.
This is what fairy tales need. They need to stop having the storyline about losing someone, being the only survivor of a family. If we have a fairy tale that is all about family and unity it would be a great example to the youth on how to build their own families in this reality. Each book could focus on traits and morals within families that they hold dear and increases the magical bonds within the families. It will give hope to the rising generation of youth in this world we call home.
