Faling Fruit

FALLING FRUIT (poem-16) Standing under a tree In complete darkness Beyond what I can see Is a sky that is starless As I fall asleep alone Nestled against this trunk Something hits my head Making an awful clunk Searching in the dark Somewhere on the ground What has hit my head Is no where to be found Brushing throw the grass I stumble upon the find The roundness in my hand Is playing on my mind The smell of this roundness Is nothing my nose knows The texture of its surface Was as soft as my clothes Without any hesitation I took a very large bite Hungered for is flavour It’s taste was just right The taste was so very sweet But nothing I could compare For Never have I ever tasted Something beyond a pear Not in the shape of a pear It’s was a complete roundness The texture was so smooth And it’s taste was so desirous Falling from this orchard tree Was a taste beyond my reach Until later I learned in my life It was a glorious fuzzy peach *Manoj Kumar Panda*
