The Fall

Grass began fading,
No longer green, not even brown.
Every glance I took
Sent my face into a frown.

The stars no longer shined,
The sky no longer blue.
Warmth of the sun's rays left no trace,
Not even a clue.

The leaves all fell,
Though it wasn't fall.
Bricks no longer red,
Crumbling in every wall.

I miss the music playing,
When it bounced throughout the air.
Now theatres contain signs
With nothing but "Beware".

Oxygen fills my lungs,
Yet it feels hard to breathe.
My dreams have all vanished,
Leaving nothing to achieve.

All I ever wanted
Was to be with you.
Now it seems to be
The only thing that is still true.

But when you left you took the color,
You even took my smile.
Nothing beautiful remained,
Not within a single mile.

I am not blind,
But I no longer see.
Anything that was beautiful
Now ceases to be.

I am not deaf,
But I no longer hear
The way you used to laugh
Whenever you were near.

I am not dead,
But my heart no longer beats.
For that you have taken,
I now know of no release.
