The Fall of Hephaestus

A baby born small,

Unsheltered and weak,

Needing protection

From a mother

With a hatred that burns

Of flames hotter than his tears.

Life goes on

And he is broken down

Without love

A mother that posts

The cruelest remarks

On social media

Yet is too afraid

To lose her reputation

That she doesn't say it to his sodden face.

Cyberbullying

Tears the souls

Of boys and girls

And leaves a small boy

On a rooftop

Waiting for his fall

To a world more welcoming than this one.
