Fall Out of Love
The best way to fall out of love with someone,
is not to eat ice cream and listen to Taylor Swift,
no.
This only reminds you of how great your relationship was,
and how sad you are that it doesn't exist anymore.
It only reminds you of
his smile, the gleam in his eyes.
The way you felt when he walked in the room.
The way he looked at you when you walked in the room.
It only reminds you of the smell of his cologne
when you gave him a hug;
the smell of his cologne on the sweatshirt he let you wear home;
The fading smell of his cologne,
on the sweatshirt you still have.
It only reminds you of the fake gush of wind
that blew his hair back;
The fake gush of wind
that blew your hair back;
The fake gush of wind that whispered in your ear,
you're in love.
The best way to fall out of love with someone
is to repeat I love you until it means
nothing.
Phil Kay said in his poem 'Repition'
that his mother taught him,
if you repeat something enough times
it loses it's meaning.
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you ...
"See nothing."
I told you I loved you so many times that it meant
nothing.
When I told you I loved you,
all you did
was give me that handsome, lop-sided smile,
the gleam in your eyes so bright
I thought to myself,
'He's going to say it back this time,"
but all you said
was
I know.
The best way to fall out of love with someone,
is to repeat I hate you in the mirror until it starts to mean
everything.
Look in the mirror with a magnifying glass
and find all of your impurities.
Bring your greatest insecurities out to play,
destroy the last strain of confidence you have.
Remind yourself that no one can love a dying thing that
doesn't even love themselves.
The best way to fall out of love with someone...
it's not to diminish your self-esteem;
it's not to repeat I love you until it means nothing;
It's not to remind yourself of all the great things you once had;
It's not to listen to Taylor Swift and gorge yourself with ice cream...
The best way to fall out of love with someone,
is to not fall at all...
