Falling off

I remember those days

Jumping up and down full of energy

Running around playfully

A face full of innocence and unassuming joy

I miss laughing like they are

I miss the sense of fulfillment they convey

I try to grab some of the joy they emanate but it’s out of my reach

seemingly unattainable

The innocence and unassuming joy on my face have been replaced with a scowl as I walk

dragging my feet slowly behind me

dreadfully moving further and further into the mundane

I take short reluctant steps out of fear that I might take one too big

Because what if I fall so far into a state of seclusion

that I get lost in the obscure
