Falling

only after

we had fallen together

into an unmade bed,

our breathing rough

and shallow,

our eyelids drooping

slowly closed,

our legs tangled

into each other,

with a blanket

haphazardly lain on us,

your fingers in my hair

and my head on your chest,

while i silently

drifted into sleep

did you whisper,

soft as a feather,

that you had grown

past content

and subtle admiration for me.

your words carressed my ears,

lulling me into unconsciousness

with the thought that,

maybe,

i could learn

to love you too.
