Falling In Love
So the girl falls in love with a boy...
Yeah, just kidding
The girl falls in love with herself
madly, deeply in love
She is not Juliet, she is Diana
She is a young Ms Helen Reddy
"I Am Woman Hear Me Roar"
Ladies- are you ready for this?
Take notes
She gets ready for the day
Walks past a mirror and sees in the reflection hips that seem to get wider
each time she passes by
She addresses this not with dreams of changing her frame-
but with a
"Daaamn girl" and a little wink as she walks out the door
Because She Is Beautiful
She ratchet straps her kayak to the top of her car-
strengthening her muscles in the open rather than in the confines of a gym
Breathes fresh air that fuels her powerful lungs that pump life into her poems
Because She Is Independent
In the same strong breath but a completely different sense
She tips a Rumchata bottle a extra time into her favorite mug containing Monday night hot chocolate
Because She Deserves It
She crawls into what some would call an empty bed to be encased in new, warm, lavender scented fleece sheets
There isn't even one side of that bed just for her that feels cold- or lonely.
Because She Has Herself
She sips, and engulfs the strength of women before her
in books she treated herself to hours of searching for
Because She Can
She likes to think that Emily, Edna, Maya, and Kate would be
Proud
She sleeps soundly, and wakes up the next morning to repeat this romance
She begins each day by falling in love with herself over and over again
Because She Is Worth It
