A Falling Rain
A falling rain as I seek shelter
Its touch frigid and its weight welter
Deserted, stranded, I am alone
A great distance from what I call home
But home I left for lack of pleasure
I do admit, a drastic measure
The harshest actions I do condone
In this adventure finding my own
the droplets now begin to batter
No longer do they pitter-patter
Breaking focus and concentration
Leading to mental alteration
Of perception and observation
Posing bluntly a limitation
On the words I can now conceive
I wish me alone it would leave
Curse them! Curse them! Damn these drips!
Icy on my fingertips
Down and down I spiral
My mind also gyral
More, more, more it spins!
My head, roof of tin
I fall, collapse
Broken synapse
No more light
No more day
Only night
Only grey
But then
It seems
Why yes!
It gleams!
In the distance of my mind
A beacon or of a kind
A goal, a motive, a place to go
Crafted by Poe as Eldorado
And no longer do I feel the pain
Because I did not ever seek shelter
I sought the rain
