Familiar Chains

Your familiar smile shined dully from the beginning.

One I recognized before. The smile of denial that’s all too easy to maintain. We walk around exhausted and giddy knowing that it’s easier to do that than to be pitied.

Talk is cheap but it was oh so pretty, that I didn’t want to believe you were just one in the same, dedicating your whole life just to make sure you were wanted in the game.

A true man is a rare breed that wont take what’s easy. He’ll walk and even drag his feet down the long and narrow road; do whatever it takes to lay his own life down.

He has only One Eye in mind worth pleasing and gives His King His crown.

He knows that what’s on the outside is only a flash and just a glimmer and living from the inside out will make the unseen quiver.

But I guess ‘that’s just life’, ‘there’s nothing else’, I’m aware of my familiar chains. They may rub my writs raw and leave them cracked and bleeding, but its better than risking the unknown where my heart could start beating.
