family

family

family

made up of different colors and thoughts

not made of blood

but made of love

we are like a puzzle

different shapes and colors

forming together to make a masterpiece

always easy…no

always worth it…yes

some have come with past hurts

some have come with stability

we watch each other and learn to trust

learn that the human spirit can love and accept anyone

we are connected not by blood

but by our hearts and our time

sitting around the kitchen table

we share stories that made us who we are

three came as teenagers with no concept of family

we patiently taught them how to love

how to trust

how to sleep without fear of abuse

how to feel full by food and love

how to step out in courage in a new country

how to follow their hearts

family

forever no matter what

love binds us
