Family
Daddy is yelling and denying,
Mama is crying and trying.
Nothing we do is good enough,
But I know I have to be tough.
Sissy is trying her best,
But there is a terrible feeling in her chest.
Dad is angry and disappointed,
Even though we are bending over backwards like we are double jointed.
Door is slamming shut,
and I can feel the pain in my gut.
We pretend everything is okay,
Even though we scream, cry, and fight every day.
People think we are perfect,
But they are really incorrect.
Now I am ready to tell the truth,
I do not have the perfect youth.
Everything is tense,
And nothing makes any sense.
I feel like we are breaking,
And all we are doing is faking.
