Family
Who are you the one who tore through my walls?
Person who I have named ‘friend’
My heart was closed and locked…
All my walls were up
You ran though them
You became my best friend
You became family
You earned my trust
Granted it was hard
But you didn’t give up.
You helped me through so much
Then you broke it…
You broke my ability to trust.
I’ve turn to paper to write my sorrows
My pain, my brokenness, MY loneliness
Why? Because of YOU!
Do you remember what you said?
“If anyone is mean to you or hurts you tell me OK?”
Those words gained my trust
My arms became paper
I drew my solitude
I talked to inanimate objects
For crying out loud!
Remember what you said?
What those words did to me you will never know
How torn up I was inside
“What are you talking about? We aren’t friends.”
Those words cut through my soul
My very being
Instead of crying
I smiled politely
While inside I was dying silently
No one to hear my screams
You have been my Family
You have been there when no one else was
You comforted me…
Remember the day I was crying?
Because of my ‘uncle’ and my sister?
I went in your backpack
And you let me have some of your chex-mix…
I have happy memories with you…
But would it be easier to forget you?
After all you just ignore me…
That isn’t the saddest thing of all…
The saddest thing is…
I still call you
Family
