Family Ain't Forever

The people you love the most

Seem to always be the ones to treat you the worst,
My own mother don't even value my worth,
My older sister says I'm a "hood rat" that's good for nothing
but I worked 3 jobs and went to college,
got my degree before she did,
she say I'm an addict
that smokes too much weed
I said girl that's what you need
Make your spirit a little lighter
Maybe make you a little nicer
Who am I kidding? That ain't gon happen
All you good for is tainting my mothers imagine of me.
You painted her this picture of me
She so blind to your ways
She believe it too
Feed into your every move,
Shit she got some blame too
I'm just as much her daughter as you.
But somehow she always choose you.
Thank God my brother always saved me.
Told me don't argue, be lady.
Don't talk, just show actions.
That shit will drive them crazy.
Focused on my goals more than ever.
I used to think family was forever.
