Family Character
I am a molded figure of my family.
A clone of their values
and a brand of character.
So many of their words seep through my skin,
and now run in my veins.
But one thought is the drum pounding
in my beating heart.
Their words remain where their feet once stood.
The letters are eternally etched on the front side of my memory.
This is my soap box that stands like a stage,
and I will use this to tell the world who I am.
My eyes close as my words form the thought
written across my eyelids:
I am the daughter of commitment,
sister to hard work,
and cousin to charismatic leader.
Some know me as the granddaughter of faith
or friend of wonder.
My heart slows but the thought is still beating.
I step down from my stage
and proudly show the world the name on my back.
The name that i so proudly wear to carry all these labels.
The name of a family who shaped me.
