Family Over Everything

“Family over everything”

A popular line nowadays,

But for some it means nothing

It’s just part of a phase.

But I’m one of the few

To be born with my best friend,

Only three minutes apart

From day one ‘til the end.

Instead of tattling we protected

We’ve always had each other’s backs,

Together we solved anything

And learned all of life’s hacks.

We’ve pushed and encouraged

In school and in sport,

And found fun at a desk

Or playing in a tree fort.

He’s there when I win

And he’s there when I lose,

To make my heart smile

When someone’s made it bruise.

He’s more than a brother

He’s my rock, he’s my number one,

One thing I can’t live without

When it’s all said and done.
