Family of Stones

Here in 2025 the world is obsessed with science. But  has still not observed the foundation of life, still not grasped fundamentals. That everything 'animate' and 'inanimate' holds no division. That all vibrate with energy, and all sing together with the earth in harmony.

STANZA

They were an untidy group of stones:

Some roundish, others angular, and

not one short of a liberal smear of

crumbling mortar.

STANZA

They had lain at the bottom of the

garden for several years, and had seen

at least two changes of ownership of

the fee simple.

STANZA

They had grown old men's beards

of moss, lichen and morning dew.

A fairyland for field mice and their

several generations.

STANZA

As I placed each stone into the

wheelbarrow I watched a family fragment:

Their cries reverberate around a

garden which had slept timeless.
