A Family Unit

Family Is there a way to describe What a family means in one’s life I was told it was important At one point I thought it was but now I see A family has no place for me A father who disowned me A mother to blind to see My stepdad is trying to control me Nobody knows and they won’t understand If only there was a way to describe All the pain I hide inside No one see’s they’re pushing me away Broken empty and sad I lost my mother and my dad No one to love, no love in return No safe haven, no place to turn No comfort from a loving home I am standing alone with no way to describe What a family means in ones life The impact and influences they make How they make us bend or break Maybe I am missing out but I fail to see The meaning of ones family

I think this is a poem that a lot of people would be able to relate too. There are a lot of families out there that are struggling and complicated. If it's not obvious, yes I would be one of those people. Great things always come after a moment of dispair. I'm glad you've found your peace in the end(:

I wrote this poem while in a dark place in my life. I felt that my family was out to get me, they didn't understand how I felt about what had happened and what was happening in my life. I turned to some unhealthy outlets during that time in my life and decided to excuse what I was doing by blaming my parents. Obviously I have learned since then that my family is there for me and I appreciate everything they have done for me.
