Fancy Crystalware

Humans have crystal hearts

And blood made of mercury

Some bind their chests in iron sheets

and some surround the heart with cotton

Even the smallest fall or tumble

can break the crystal

So humans walk with care around the world

Watching their moves in fear

Some don’t even trust themselves.

and know that Love and trust,

Are as dangerous as cyanide.

But some forget that every tear spilled,

gives it a crack

and every sob,

gives it two.

And sometimes, the pain and the tragedy

turn the crystal to dust,

Microscopic diamonds that once

were a human’s soul

They go with the breeze and wind up

in the lungs of another person.

Suddenly, their breath

turns to smoke.

but if you look closely,

you can see shards of someone else.
