Fantasy v. Reality

As a child, we believe everything is pure

We believe that the word is ours to dominate

That our parents kisses can cure

That we can get all of our toys ro accomodate

In our small little box, for sure.

Oh but what a fool am I,

Reality came,

Dreams blew into the sky.

My thougts of fame

They were all in vain.

I learned that the world isnt made of

Lollipops as trees,

Kool Aid as the sea,

And the moon of blue cheese.

But rarely, and I do mean rarely,

I push all that away,

And I think of a time when I am treated fairly,

Where everything will be okay.

Oh how sweet is this

And I really do cherish it.

The moments where I can escape

Fly away with my cape.

But alas, my good dear friend,

It is time to be awaken,

For that dreary clock is a-shakin'.

Time to pull yourself out of bed

And face the day ahead.

Oh how cruel is this world!

I pout. I scream,

I wish to be a kid again,

And be care free like back then.

Im just like everyone else,

Trying to get through life

and man, oh man,

can life really suck.
