Far Away

Thousands of miles away,

Yet you feel so, so

close as I watch you from the screen of my laptop.

Will I ever see you again?

Will I ever lay my eyes on you in person?

Your music fills my head, my lungs, my heart.

No matter what people say about you,

I will be there, because the universe planned us,

The stars in the night sky have perfectly aligned.

Each day and night, I hope to see you soon,

Even if only for a brief minute, hour, maybe two,

But with each day, I get nowhere closer to my dreams

as the planets continue revolving and the sun rises and sets.

But in my dreams, I envision a moment between us two,

Seeing each other after what feels like centuries.

Despite the sweet lies the world feeds us,

That our dreams will become reality if we try,

Those sweet lies feel real at night when I’m alone.

With each day, I keep going about my regular life,

Happy and healthy with what I have,

But I hope one day

you’ll be here, within reach.
