Far away from home

Dear Mexico, where I was born and lived almost half of my life. I miss everything about you. I miss all those childhood memories when I used to go to that private elementary school where I met the best people who are still part of my life, my friends. In Mexico, I didn't have any worries, life was easy and I was surrounded by loving friends and family. Half of my life was spent in this country. Thousands of memories left behind, keeping letters that I can't deny. Time flew by so fast, I was not a child anymore it was time to move on, time to leave all those memories behind, those friends and family and start a brand new life. There I go, a high school freshmen who did not know anybody, who did not speak to anybody because Spanish was the only language that I could speak back then. Times were difficult, but with patience and dedication, this high school girl never gave up and because fluent in English in a year. I worked hard, I am not going to lie. There were times when I wanted to give up and go back home but I did not let the negative voice inside me win. I know that I have a purpose in this life and I am here to succeed. I graduated from high school with honors and I am beyond excited to finish college. Sometimes I imagine what my life would be like if I stayed in Mexico, all those loved ones I left behind, but I believe that everything happens for a reason, and the reason I am here is because they want to see me succeed.
