Farewell Old Friend

Dear High School,

I woke up this morn with a few thoughts in my heart.
Bittersweet with excitement and for the brand new start.
See, in just a few months my life will ever change.
New places, new people, new friends to gain.
But before I go, before this season will end.
I need to say farewell to my dear old friend.
From September to June you've opened your doors.
From Monday through Friday I walked on your floors.
Through fall, though winter through every storm.
Your 50 year boiler kept me cozy and warm.
You never complained when staying up late.
With games, events so much on your plate.
I took you for granted so often I know.
Never said goodbye and never said hello.
But you've been there through thick and through thin.
And so many times you took it right on the chin.
So with honor and respect I say to you farewell.
I'll miss you old friend and wish you so well.
I'm going to leave but more will arrive.
On bus, by foot and many will  drive.
And you'll be right there to welcome them in.
With jolly old smile or a faithful grin.
Not many will thank you for all that you've done.
Won't pose for selfie, not even a one.
I'll never forget you, you'll stay on my mind.
I'll think of you often for you have been kind.
So now I say farewell to my friend.
For all good things must come to an end.

With Sincere Thanks,
