farewell You

You,

Have been there since the beginning of  my adolescence,

You were there ,

You decided to talk to me,

Offered me a place in such a place,

A place with your friends which, soon came to become mine,

You were far too kind.

You would listen to problems,

You always listened with such eagerness,

Soon You became too attached,

You asked me to be someone to you,

No, not just your friend,

A lover.

I was far too naive,

I trusted what i thought You were,

You were not the You i knew,

You didn't like me,

You liked to control me,

You did not like me being close to other people,

You didn't love me like You said he did.

You did hurt me,

You hurt others saying he did it for ‘loving me’,

For ‘caring’ for ‘wanting to be my one and only’ because You 'trusts me but not others’,

For ‘me’.

You did not love me,

You did not see my suffering,

You did what he thought was best for me,

You acted on his own accord.

Until it was over with You.

Once i discovered value in myself,

Value once not seen before You,

So thank you, You,

For all the heartbreak, the tears, the pain,

Thank you for making me see i didn't need You ,

I just needed,

Me myself and I.

There’s no You in that.

So yes I am grateful for You,

You helped me to find true happiness within myself

You helped me be happy with myself

so thank you

and farewell,

You
