Farther: 7-11-16

By the river

Amid the sparrows

I waded through

The grass waist-high

And wondered If

The sapling oak

Shedding Its youth

Would reach the stars

And touch the moon

As I have tried

As I have waited

As I have tried

As I have failed

As I have failed

As I still try

Because I still fail

To reach the sky

And perhaps this oak

Instead could try

To reach the stars

And touch the moon

And In my place

This oak could reach

And meet the stars

I wouldn’t mind
